Hi everyone! This is the official start of my development blog for Uneven Evan! For those of you who aren't in the loop, Uneven Evan is my thesis film (4th year film) at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. I am super excited to share the entire development cycle with you step by step, and give you guys a peek into just how ruthless this process is going to be! While I am proud of this animatic in many ways, and it definitely showcases the feel I'm going for, things WILL be changed. I already have rewritten the script with the help of my co-writers (thanks Brian/Justin), and I will be sharing an updated animatic in the coming weeks. Hooray!
What am I trying to say with this film? Is there a message here?
Answer: Yes!
College is hard, work is hard, things get tough. At the same time, life balance is a key factor to one's mental health and wellbeing, and is something that is constantly ignored by creators and media. People push the mentality of "work hard, you can rest when you're dead" and it just reiterates an unhealthy way of life. When you are overworked and unhappy, your productivity decreases. However, if you completely push away your desire to work and only pursue enjoyment/rest, you will feel unfulfilled and behind in society. Uneven Evan showcases a man struggling on this tightrope, and finally achieving life balance FOR HIM.
Tl;dr: my film is about life balance between work-life and personal-life.
I am so excited to start this journey, and more artwork/information will be released on a weekly basis!
